I want a 40's Horrockses sunsuit!

I went to see the 40's and 50's Horrockses collection in the fashion and textiles museum today. Although I think the quality and patterns of this decade are definitely a once in a lifetime, it's not really my style. BUT. I did spot these sunsuits (in the middle pic) and have suddenly gone off playsuits ... adorable.

Gary Harvey makes disposable divine!

I think Gary Harvey may well be the man who gives fashion a kick up the arse and lands it into ethical revolution land. He whipped up these cool concoctions from things which had seen their sell by date such as baseball jackets, laundry bags and yesterdays news. Good man Gary!

Hanger Sans!

Not sure if you've copped but these are clothes hangers chopped up and made into type. Well done if you have and you're a dope if you haven't. Ah no, it is hard to tell! I did this experiment for a college project and will elaborate again at a later stage! :)

Ten collective bird brains!

Ten collective is a group of ten hot designer ladiez who decided to get together and rent a studio (me being one of them). We decided to do this because the facilities in uni are SHITE when it comes to finding a free studio on a daily basis. Also we figured we would work better together as a collaborative group rather than hermiting at home alone. Here are some snaps of the studio and a link to our blog.

Lena Santana!

These are some of the pieces from an ethical brand called Lena Santana! I came across them at a pop up shop over the wkend. Some of the dresses are a bit of a state but some of them are really cute especially the little playsuit. Most of all I like the fact she has the balls to make them from old materials which have been used before, such as curtains. You probably guessed that one already. Check out her website here.

The Uniform Project!

A woman with good style and a good heart stitches a plan together!
Kind of reminds me of when I was growing up in the 1700's and
I had to alter my Sunday dress every so often for a new look.
Very inspirational stuff though!

Sustainable Accessory Designer, Charlotte Hosten!

C.H is a french self-made jewellery and accessory designer. All her pieces are hand-made and trés trés trés beautastic. She recycles most of her stuff while still managing to keep the old environment in mind. Most of the trimming waste is kept to be reused and lots of vintage beads, brooches and necklaces are given a second life. See more of her work here.

These shots were taken by one of my fav fashion photographers Richard Burbridge. I love the weirdness of using everyday objects to create other effects. So simple, yet super strong.

The woman behind the Stella Artois Ads!

I don't usually notice billboards because I think the designs on most of them are for the birds. However these ads caught my eye. They were designed by a girl called Cristiana Couceiro. I love the retro and re-usable feel which they portray. It's so refreshing to see this for a change rather than the clone-like contempo design that generally surrounds us today! Go Christy!

Primark Poster!

This is a poster I designed for a hand in in college with my beautiful friend Elma's hot legs and hands behind it! I'm focusing on sustainable fashion for my major project so this reflects this idea. As I'm sure you've noticed I've printed it on Primark bags. Yes, this is on purpose....buuuT I only noticed the recycle arrow circle under the word circle after I got it back from hand in. Worked out well though!
